Fun day will make Leyland market matter
4:04pm Wednesday 2nd July 2014 in News
As part of the Making Markets Matter campaign, Leyland Market on Hough Lane is hosting a free family fun day on Saturday.
The event will take place from 10am to 4pm and will include face painting, a special visit from Victor the Lion, play your cards right game, voucher vault and cooking demonstrations with chef Geoff Tookey.
The fun day has been organised by South Ribble Borough Council in collaboration with the National Market Traders Federation, in a bid to encourage even more people to shop local and savour the joys of purchasing great produce from the market.
South Ribble Borough Council’s cabinet member with responsibility for regeneration, leisure and healthy communities, Coun Phil Smith, said: “We have a thriving market in Leyland, but of course we would like to encourage even more people to shop local and use the market more often.
“The market is a bustling hub of activity with all manner of different stalls selling food, everyday essentials, special gifts and luxury goods.
“We’d like to encourage as many people as possible to come along to the fun day to see just how great Leyland Market is.” Leyland Market is open on Tuesdays and Fridays from 8.30am to 5pm and Saturdays from 8.30am to 4.30pm.
