Astley Hall, has been presented with an award of excellence by the visitor and travel review site TripAdvisor.

The hall has been honoured with the award for consistently earning top ratings from visitors who have posted reviews of the attraction online.

The 400-year old stately home has attracted thousands of visitors so far this year with even more people exploring its grounds, which include Astley Park, the Walled Garden and the Coach House.

Coun Bev Murray, who has responsibility for Astley Hall and cultural assets at Chorley Council, said: “Visitors often tell staff at Astley Hall just how magnificent the building and park is but for them to then go online and tell other people about it, is fantastic.

“We know a lot of people decide on what attractions they should visit based on online reviews so we are delighted that so many people appreciate Astley Hall.

“Over the last few years, the council has worked hard to make Astley Hall, Coach House and park into an attraction that people want to visit time and time again and we have even more improvement plans in the pipeline, like a new play area.”

Astley Hall and the Chorley Remembers Experience, which is located in the Coach House, is open from noon until 4.30pm every weekend and Monday to Wednesday during school holidays.

There are some fantastic exhibitions on at the Hall this summer including Brainstorm! The Art of Bryan Talbot plus lots of events taking place including picnic in the park on Sunday, July 6, Big Drum Day on Sunday, August 3 and Theatre in the Park presents Macbeth on Saturday, August 16.
