The Mayor of South Ribble Councillor Graham Walton has raised a commemorative flag at the Civic Centre, Leyland, in honour of Britain’s service men and women.

The specially-commissioned flag was hoisted on Monday morning and will take pride of place until after Armed Forces Day on Saturday, June 28.

Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire Colonel Alan Jolley, who is from Leyland, helped Councillor Walton raise the flag which was blessed by the Mayor of South Ribble’s chaplain, Father Xavier Ho.

The special ceremony was also attended by representatives of local uniformed organisations and local councillors.
