Updated 2:37pm Friday 20th June 2014 in News
A MAN suffered serious head injuries after being punched on a Leyland street.
The local 31-year-old is known to have left the Seven Stars pub on Leyland Lane at around 9.40pm on Saturday, June 14.
At around 11.10pm, shortly after the kick-off of the England v Italy World Cup game, the man was seen to be arguing with three men on Fox Lane, Leyland near to the park area.
It is believed that he was punched and has then fallen and hit his head on the ground.
The men then ran off.
The man was taken to Chorley Hospital but was then transferred to the Royal Preston Hospital where it was confirmed he had a bleed on the brain.
He has now been released from hospital.
Officers are trying to piece together what happened to the man in the period of time between 9.40pm to 11.10pm.
DC David Wainwright from South CID said: “It is still unclear exactly what happened to the man between the time after he left the Seven Stars and the time he was found on the pavement where he was helped by a member of the public.
“If anyone saw a man who was possibly wearing a white t-shirt in the area around the Seven Stars pub or Fox Lane, please get in contact.
“Similarly, if you witnessed the man arguing with three other men or know who these men are, please let us know.”
Anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting reference number 1771 of June 14.
