A fans’ football team made more than £500 for a charity from a family fun day at Victory Park.
AFC Chorley took on the Manchester United Supporters Team and although lost 4-1 the real winner on the day was Chorley Mencap, based on Stump Lane.
Manager James Wilson said: "Since we started our first fundraising event in 2012 we have always made a point of raising money for worthwhile causes.
“We’ve given money to Derian House children’s hospice in the past and thought it would be fitting to help the clubs chosen charity for the season, Chorley Mencap.
“It was a great day and everybody had lots of fun. I personally would like to thank everyone who has helped us achieve this milestone and please support us with further activities in the future.”
Lionel Barker, from Mencap said: “Chorley Football Club, as well as AFC Chorley has supported our local charity throughout the year and we are immensely thankful to the club for their continuing efforts to raise money and local people of the town for showing awareness of our society.”
