A superb performance by race walker Phil McCullagh saw him take first place in the Allen Trophy Handicap Race around Chorley’s hilly course.

Starting at St. Peter’s Club, Eaves Lane, Phil completed the 15-mile course in 3hrs and 20 secs.

Chief coach and international race walker John Payn decided to complete 10 miles.

In round one of the North of England Track and Field League at Oldham, Andrew Ramsey achieved a seasons best (SB) of 11.7s in 100m, and a 55.8s in the 400m and third in the hammer.

The new sprint duo of Georgia Martin and Moya Wilcock took valuable points in the 100m and 200m.

Ruth Whipp was 2nd in the 3,000m and Javelin B finals.

A damp night in Astley Park was the setting for the first Astley Park Trail Series evening race of the series.

Julian Goudge led Chorley home in sixthplace, followed by Robert Walsh in 13th.

Robert Walsh stormed to a sub-20min and second place in the 5K Sweatshop Parkrun Series at Cuerden Valley where Michael Hendry just missed out on a PB, with Simon Townsend, first lady Finty Royle and Mark Bond not far behind.

At a windy Morecambe, club runners battled the elements to complete the half marathon with Joe Duckworth finishing fifth.
