A Big Lunch is taking place later this month where residents are being invited to spend time getting to know others in their community.

The free family-friendly event is set to take place on Friday, May 30 from 11am to 3pm around the Arts Centre on Worden Park, Leyland.

The ‘Big Lunch’ is a national initiative with the aim of building stronger and more sustainable communities, and empowering local groups to organise their own future community events.

South Ribble Borough Council’s Leyland neighbourhood forum is supporting Broadfield Community Association to deliver this year’s Big Lunch and a whole host of free activities have been arranged to keep all of the family happy.

From a barn owl display to face painting and laser quest to magic shows, there will be lots going on. Everyone is encouraged to bring a picnic, or refreshments can be purchased from the café or kiosk in Worden Park.

Coun Jane Bell, Leyland forum chair, said: “This is set to be a fantastic event for all of the family to come along and enjoy. What’s more is that it is a great opportunity to meet with others in the community, find out more about your neighbours and see the benefits of hosting an event where members of the community have come together and made it happen.”
