SIX juniors from Chorley Athletic and Triathlon Club took part in the Wigan open track and field meet.

Under 11s Daniel Lilley, Jessica Williams and Will David, under 13 Kian Davis, and under 17s Holly Brookes and Ryan McCracken took part.

For some, it was their first time in a track and field competition and there were some strong performances from the team.

Daniel achieved second in the 600m and third in the long jump, with Kian third in the 1,500m.
The next track and field event is due to take place at Wigan on April 26.

The tri season kicked off with three athletes competing at the Carr Hill Sprint Triathlon in Kirkham.

The event consists of a 400m pool swim, a 24k bike and 6.4k run. Triathlete Joe Duckworth claimed a superb first home in 1:11:45, with Jonathon Mann not too far behind in fifth in 1:14:46.

John Baron was also on for a great race but was sadly misdirected by a run marshal and only completed one lap of the run.

Chorley's runners were again out in force in the Lancashire Tough 5k Cuerden Valley Park Run.

First back for Chorley was Chris Charnley in fourth place and a time of 21:17. Darren Bowles was just two places behind and Michael Hendry also finished in the top 10.

Simon Townsend finished 18th, with first lady Finty Royle not far behind him.

Ian Grace, was chased home by John Minton and Les Paul, who both achieved PBs.

Two triathletes also competed in the Epic Events Clitheroe Tri.

Robert Baldwin was placed 30th overall, and 10th in the over 40s category, while Jonathan Baron finished in 50th overall and 17th in the vet 40 list.
