Chorley teen bike rider dies at event

A TEENAGER has died after falling from his motorbike at a motocross event.
Joseph Philip Edge, 17, of Church Lane, Charnock Richard, Chorley, sustained serious head and arm injuries when he fell from a motorcycle at Coney Green Farm in Stourport, Worcestershire during an event on Sunday, March 16.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the event shortly after the accident.
A paramedic in a rapid response car and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford were dispatched to the scene.
At the time a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find a male teenager had become injured after falling from his motorbike.
“The casualty was treated for serious head and arm injuries. He was anaesthetised by a doctor before being immobilised and airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
“The hospital was alerted to the serious condition of the patient.”
Joseph died on Saturday, Mar ch 23 at the hospital.
An inquest into his death was opened and adjourned at the Worcestershire Coroners’ Court yesterday.
Coney Green Farm is a dedicated site used for motocross and trails biking.
On its website is described as having “a good variety of terrain with some big hill climbs, flat fast open fields and good technical woodland suited to all levels of rider”.
