Chorley’s Covered Market has welcomed a number of new traders in recent months and is now approaching full occupancy.

The new stalls are selling produce from wedding and prom accessories, greetings cards, books shoes, cosmetics and mobile phone accessories.

There are now 29 occupied stalls in the covered market with several gazebos on the outside. These are complemented by around 100 stalls on the Flat Iron market each Tuesday.

Angela Mason set up Mason’s family-run market café in July 2013, a change of career after previously working in banking. She said: “I’m having a great time running the café, I love the social interaction and everybody here is really lovely. It’s a great atmosphere.”

Other recent additions include Kay’s costume jewellery, a greetings cards and books stall, Finishing Touches women’s accessories, Kay’s Shoes and a mobile phone and cigarette accessory stall.

Councillor Peter Wilson is deputy leader of Chorley Council. He said: “It’s great to see that the markets are so full all of which offering something different and all the new traders seem to be settling in really well.”

Chorley’s Covered Market is on every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from around 8.30am until 4pm. There is also a flea market on Mondays and craft stalls on Thursdays.
