A Leyland benefit fraudster, who claimed more than £6,500 while working full time, has been ordered by a court to repay the money.

Peter Rimmer, 54, of Redwood Avenue, Leyland, pleaded guilty to two offences when he appeared at Preston Magistrates Court.

He failed to declare to South Ribble Borough Council that he was in full time employment and was no longer entitled to benefits.

He falsely claimed £5,257 in housing benefit and £1,373 in council tax benefit between August 2011 and February 2013.

Magistrates ordered that Mr Rimmer repay all of the money and fined him £270.
