Lancashire County Council to tackle council tax fraud

Lancashire County Council is teaming up with district councils to tackle single person council tax discount fraud.

Homes claiming to be occupied by one person will be checked, ensuring they are eligible for a 25 per cent council tax discount worth up to £250 a year.

David Borrow, deputy leader of Lancashire County Council, said: “Councils are keen to make sure that people get discounts they are rightly entitled to, while clamping down on incorrect claims.”
