Chorley Youth Theatre are bringing an acclaimed novel by the Children’s Laureate to the stage for their next production.

Bad Girls is based on the book by popular author Jacqueline Wilson and is the story of an unlikely friendship between two schoolgirls.

Shy Mandy has been bullied for as long as she can remember, so is delighted when cheeky and daring Tanya picks her as a friend.

Mandy’s mum isn’t happy, but the two girls love spending time with each other and their lives are transformed in ways no-one expects.

The play is acted and staged entirely by the teenage members of Chorley Youth Theatre, with 16-year-old Kira Brookfield making her debut as director, promising a show full of wit and emotion.

Lucy McManus stars as Mandy, with Olivia Chandler as Tanya and Beth Frost as Mandy’s mother.

The family-friendly play is on at Chorley Little Theatre on Friday and Saturday, january 17 and 18, including a Saturday matinee. Tickets cost £6 for adults, £4 for children, and £18 for a family ticket from Malcolm’s Musicland 01257 264362.
