Chorley's Christmas switch-on to take place in November
6:00am Monday 28th October 2013 in News
Chorley’s Christmas switch-on celebrations will take place earlier than ever this year.
The festivities are on Saturday, November 16, a week earlier than previous years.
Everyone’s favourite red-nosed reindeer Rudolph and Father Christmas himself will be in town at 2.30pm.
A string of Christmas hits will be performed on the Market Street stage at 4.30pm with additional music from some of regions up and coming bands.
The countdown will take place at 6.30pm, followed by a 10-minute firework display and a chance to meet the stage acts afterwards.
Deputy leader of Chorley Council Coun Peter Wilson who is responsible for the Christmas lights switch-on, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Rock FM to bring people the best Christmas lights switch-on event yet. We’ve got even more surprises in store this year and are continuing to work with traders to give local people and visitors an amazing Christmas experience.
“The stage will also be in a slightly different location this year to give people a better view of the performances and there’s plenty going on beforehand, so I would urge people to make the most of the free parking on Saturdays after 1pm and get into the town centre early. “
