Day in the lakes for Chorley Community Housing
6:00am Tuesday 15th October 2013 in News
A day in the lakes was the reward for a group of tenants after they were successful in bidding for cash from a neighbourhood fund.
The householders from Ryefield in Heapey used the cash from the Chorley Community Housing (CCH) fund for a community outing to Kendal in the Lake District where residents visited the market and took in the stunning natural landscape.
Josie Snape, chairman of the Ryes Residents Group, said: “Everyone who attended the trip to Kendal had a great time.
“Some older people in our area can feel quite isolated but the day trip brought everyone together and made them a feel a part of the community.”
Although funded by CCH, the trip was organised by the residents’ group who ensured that all members of the community had the opportunity to attend.
Chris Richardson, community engagement manager at CCH, said: “This was a great project for us to support.
“It’s nice to see the local community coming together in such a positive way.”
CCH are currently accepting a second round of bids for the Neighbourhood Fund with a share of £6,000 still up for grabs.
Those interested in bidding for cash from the fund should contact CCH on 01257 244800 or visit www.chorleych.co.uk.
The closing date for bids is noon on Monday, October 28.
