Residents in Leyland are being encouraged to saddle up and get out and about on their bikes during the late summer weeks.
The Sky Ride Local programme offers a series of free bike rides in the borough for people of all ages and abilities.
The rides will be guided by British Cycling leaders along scenic routes throughout South Ribble, ranging from easy-going rides of up to six miles on mostly traffic-free routes, to challenging rides of at least 20 miles for experienced cyclists.
Double Olympic champion Jason Kenny, OBE, said: “Cycling is a fantastic way to stay fit and healthy, plus it’s a lot of fun too. I’d encourage everyone, of all ages and abilities, to get out on their bikes and take part in a Sky Ride Local ride in South Ribble this summer.”
School children across the borough are also being encouraged to get on their bikes, with free training sessions to help them ride safely on our roads.
The next Sky Ride takes place on Sunday at 2pm touring Worden and Astley Park. Meet in the main car park, off Worden Road, Leyland. On Sunday, September 15, 10am, tackle the Ribble Ring, 31 miler from South Ribble Borough Council car park, Leyland, and on September 22, at 2pm the Worden and Astley Park Tour is repeated.
