FIVE leypeople have been prosecuted for separate dog-related offences in the Leyland area.
Lee Barnes, aged 27, of Lower House Road, Leyland, was found guilty in his absence of allowing his dog off a lead in Leyland Lane, Leyland.
Paul Seddon, aged 30, of Robin Hey, Leyland, pleaded guilty to allowing his dog off a lead in Dunkirk Lane, Leyland.
Daniel Ibbott, aged 26, of Leyland Lane, Leyland, was convicted in his absence of allowing his dog off a lead in Western Drive, Leyland.
John Lamb, of Fossdale Moss, Leyland, pleaded guilty to allowing his dog off a lead in Leyland Lane, Leyland. All the above were handed fines.
Stephen Allen, aged 43, of Cheetham Meadow, Leyland, pleaded guilty to allowing his dog off a lead in Slater Lane.
He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months.
All six prosecutions were brought by South Ribble Borough Council.
Councillor Peter Mullineaux, South Ribble Borough Council’s Deputy leader, said the council was determined to act against irresponsible owners.
He said: “We introduced a zero tolerance approach to unsupervised dogs at the request of residents.”
