A WOMAN has died almost three weeks after being struck by a car while she walked her dog.
Mrs Hazel Ianson, 51, was injured at around 2.45pm on Tuesday, February 12 when she was walking her dog along the pavement on Bent Lane, Leyland.
She was struck by a silver Toyota Aygo.
She died in hospital on Friday.
The car was travelling along Church Road from the town centre and left onto Bent Lane at the mini-roundabout.
Mrs Ianson, who lived nearby, suffered head and chest injuries and was helped at the scene by a member of the public before being taken by air ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital.
An investigation is still ongoing into the cause of the collision and police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
Sergeant Mick Young from the Force Road Policing Unit said: “I’d like to appeal to anybody that witnessed this collision who hasn’t yet spoken with police to come forward.”
Mrs Ianson’s dog was not hurt and returned home of its own accord and is being cared for by a neighbour.
Anyone who witnessed this collision should contact Lancashire Police on 101.
