Will Foran will be a judge at the Blackpool Hairdressing Championships
A SALON boss is set to cast his expert eye over hairdressers from across the country as a judge at the industry’s Oscars.
Will Foran, of the Foran and Blake salon in Chorley, will be one of the panel judging the Blackpool Hairdressing Championships, which attract the most talented stylists from across the country including East Lancashire.
Will, 38, owns the salon in Market Walk with his business partner Shaun Blake.
The glittering contest will be held at Blackpool’s famous Winter Gardens, on March 17 and 18, with thousands of pounds in prize money for the winners.
Individual competitions include ladies’ evening, in which competitors have to create a glamorous evening style suitable for a prom or ball, gents’ colour and blow dry, hair art, using clippers only, uptown girl and creative fantasy.
Will said: “I was asked to be a trainee judge at the same competition a few years ago but this time I am a fully-fledged judge.
“In each section we judges will be looking not only for the best styles but also the overall look of the models, including costume and make-up.
“It’s a very large event and around 6,000 people will be at the Winter Gardens over the two days it runs.
“I think I have been chosen as a judge because of the work I do with hairdressing students at Preston College, where I gained my assessor’s qualification a few years ago.
“It’s so important salons put themselves forward for competitions because, even if they don’t win, it’s the experience of entering that is most important.”
Will trained at the Wella Academy in Manchester, and opeed the salon six years ago.
