Dog walker injured by car in Leyland

A woman was seriously hurt after being struck by a car while walked her dog in Leyland.
The 51-year-old was injured at around 2.45pm last Tuesday as she walked on the pavement on Bent Lane.
She was struck by a silver Toyota Aygo.
The car was travelling along Church Road from the town centre and turned left on to Bent Lane at the mini-roundabout.
The woman, from Leyland, suffered head and chest injuries.
She was helped at the scene by a passer-by before being taken by air ambulance to Royal Preston Hospital.
The driver of the Toyota Aygo was also taken to Royal Preston Hospital where she was treated for shock.
An investigation is now under way to ascertain the cause of the collision and police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them.
Sergeant Mick Young from the Force Road Policing Unit said: “I’d like to appeal to anybody that witnessed this collision who hasn’t yet spoken with police to come forward.”
The woman’s dog was not hurt and returned home of its own accord and is being cared for by a neighbour.
