Adlington church sells for £219,000

Two Adlington buildings, including a former church, have been sold for more than £700,000 The former head office and retail premises of shop fitting firm Naylor and Walkden Ltd have been sold for a combined total of £714,000 by property consultants Sanderson Weatherall.

They sold the former headquarters, which incorporates offices, workshops, a storage yard and two-bed house in Hatton Street, Adlington, to Shutter Door Services for £495,000.

A former Methodist church and Sunday school in Market Street previously used as retail and storage premises by the business has been acquired by Chorley Bottle Gas for a sum of £219,000.

The two locations of the former business were excluded from a pre-pack administration.

The shop fitting business Naylor & Walkden Ltd, which entered administration in July 2012, was subject to the pre-pack administration and continues to trade as Naylor & Walkden Fit-Out Ltd.

John Goodchild is a surveyor in the asset advisory and recovery division of the North West office of Sanderson Weatherall in Manchester.

He said: “There was good demand for both properties from owner occupiers seeking strategic opportunities to expand their operations as well as property companies and private investors.

“Whilst the market for secondary properties has suffered in recent years, these deals and others we have in the pipeline demonstrate that buyers are back in the market.”
