Find your feet with Chorley health walks

First published in

The weekly Find Your Feet health walks, which take in some of Chorley’s best countryside, have re-started after the festive break.

The regular walks include Mondays at Tatton from 1pm to 2.45pm, taking a brisk walk along the canal with a refreshment stop en route. The group leaves from Tatton Recreation Ground, off Silverdale Road, Chorley.

Every Tuesday in Adlington, from 10am to 11am walkers take a scenic stroll along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and surrounding Adlington countryside.

Meet at Jubilee Recreation Ground on Park Road.

The hour-long Wednesday walks are in Astley Park, with walkers meeting at 10.30am outside Astley Hall and at 10.45am from the Out Lane car park in Croston, to take in the historic village.

Every Thursday at Yarrow Valley Country Park, from 10am to 11am people can enjoy a walk in the country park, from the visitor centre off Birkacre Road.

The strolls are organised as part of the national walking for health initiative and are led by trained volunteer leaders.

Coun Bev Murray, who oversees leisure activities at Chorley Council, said: “The health walks continue to be a great success.

“They are free of charge and there’s no need to book – just turn up, but if it’s your first time arrive 10 minutes early as there is a short health questionnaire.”
