He leaves wife Fiona and two daughters, Hannah, 14 and nine-year-old Georgia.

Martin, who was known as Danny to his many friends, was a well known football coach and a key figure at Euxton Girls FC, where he managed both the under 14s and under 9s.

The former Parklands' pupil was also a passionate and lifelong Everton fan, and had recently travelled to both Florence and Nuremberg to support his beloved team.

Martin's parents, Angela and Michael, said that their son was a "loving and generous man, whose family, especially his daughters, were the centre of his world".

His father Michael added: "Martin was so generous and put so much back into the community with great enthusiasm.

"He devoted much of his time and efforts to Euxton Girls FC and he derived a lot of joy from seeing both his daughters play for the team."

Mr Daniels worked as a buyer at Chorley engineering firm NIS.

A client of theirs, Phillip Harrison, maintained that he would be greatly missed by all.

He said: "I was fortunate enough to spend time with Martin. If it was a day at the races or playing football, one thing you were guaranteed with him was that if you were in his company then you were assured of a good day out.

"I'm struggling to come to terms with the events of this week and my heartfelt condolences go out to all Martin's family, especially Fiona and the girls.

"The world and especially the community of Chorley is a poorer place without him."

Mr Daniels' death has been referred to the Coroner's Office.

Police have said the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A funeral service will be held at St Mary's Church, Chorley, at 2.30pm on Tuesday, May 20, followed by interment at Chorley Cemetery.
