Man struck by train near Euxton named
A Chorley man who died after being struck by a train has been named.
Martin Daniels, 39, of Warton Place, Chorley, a father of two girls, was killed after being hit by a high speed train a mile south of Euxton railway station.
Mr Daniels, a former pupil at Parklands High School, had lived in Chorley all his life and was married to Fiona.
A passionate and lifelong Everton fan, he was a football coach at Euxton Villa Football Club, where he managed a girls' team in which one of his daughters played.
Mr Daniels was very well known by those in Chorley's amateur football scene and for several years had organised an annual sportsman's dinner for Euxton Villa Girls.
The incident happened at 11.45am on Tuesday.
Officers from British Transport Police and paramedics attended and Mr Daniels was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident has been referred to the Coroner's Office.
Police have said the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
