Chorley election results: Tories hold on to power

CONSERVATIVES retained control of Chorley Council, gaining two seats, one at the expense of Labour and one from an Independent.
The Tories now have 28 seats on the council, Labour 14, LibDems hold three, and there are two independents.
The Conservatives gained Euxton North, with Debra Platt defeating Labour's ex-mayor Danny Gee, who has held the seat since 1990.
There was a swing to the Tories in most wards, however they made no gains in the actual town of Chorley, where Labour held four seats and an independent one.
In Chorley East, new Labour councillor Julie Berry won the seat held by former Labour mayor Mary Wilson, who died of cancer last month.
Council leader Coun Peter Goldsworthy said: "We have seen a significant swing to the Conservatives.
"The people of Chorley are seeing an administration of efficiency, who are committed to improving services."
Labour group leader Coun Dennis Edgerley said: "It is very sad to lose such a dedicated councillor as Danny Gee, however the Tories have failed to land their other targets."

Hard on crime- just look at the statistics since 1997
Hard on immigration- you should actually look up how many asylum applicants are deported to places they are likely to be persecuted.
Aside from this, these elections were LOCAL and that means you don't vote on national issues in these ones. I wish people would stop believing the first drivel they hear and have some sense.
