I think everyone will agree that parking at Chorley Hospital is a nightmare but I wonder why no one parks on Euxton Lane, particularly the westbound side. As far as I can see there is absolutely no reason why motorists cannot park at the kerb edge anywhere between the point where the double yellow lines end (just west of the hospital entrance) and the clearway signs which are sited just after the lay by. It's questionable, but it could be argued that in parking on the Eastbound carriageway you could be causing an unnecessary obstruction of the "advisory" cycle lane.
On the Westbound carriageway the advisory route has been upgraded with the provision of a route dedicated for cyclists and pedestrians on what was the westbound footpath, the cycle lane road markings, for some reason, just haven't been removed.
This comes as no surprise when you see the state of the centre white lining between the layby and Westway Roundabout.
Here a new white line system has been applied over an old one without the old scheme first being burned off!
Anyway should anyone choose to park on Euxton Lane there are two things to bear in mind, lighting regulations - it is a 40 mph road and do not park on the pavement.
The pavement is now a route for cyclist and pedestrians only and you would therefore definitely be causing an obstruction! Having said all this, once everyone starts parking here the council will come along and slap some yellow lines down even though such parking will probably slow the traffic down on what has become a drag strip from the hospital traffic lights!
