Chorley is one of the worst places for parking

Chorley is one of the worst places for parking.

A lot of the parking bays only allow you to park for half an hour. You should be allowed a minimum of 2 hours free parking.

Many people avoid Chorley because you can’t relax shopping with umpteen parking attendants harrassing Motorists.

If you shop in Blackburn the parking is totally free and you can take your time and relax and enjoy your shopping without having to rush about to escape the traffic wardens /parking attendants.

Chorley Borough Council are greedy and unfair towards the motorists especially when you are charged parking fees to visit someone in hospital.

I think that we pay more than enough to the council via council tax without having to pay more to park. It costs enough to run a car with road tax and the high cost of fuel without having to pay more when you park.

For clarification, Chorley has 13 car parks with around 650 short stay spaces and 450 long stay spaces.

Short stay car parking costs 60p/60 mins, 70p/80 mins; 80p/100 mins, and £1/180 mins.

Long stay car parking is all close to the town centre starting at £1 per 3hrs in 10p multiples through to £3 for ten hours.

Since Chorley Council earlier this year reduced the three hour rate down a third from £1.50 to £1, following a successful trial, shoppers are staying longer AND the issue of over-staying penalty notices has significantly reduced.

Chorley Borough Council does not operate hospital car parks. Hospital car parking was introduced and run exclusively by the health authorities.

& people don`t pay the fees for all day parking when they`re at work - judging by how many cars are parked up in my area during the day! Us residents can`t even park our cars, what are we supposed to do? pay & use the car parks?
