Lotto fund hopes for Clitheroe Youth Forum

A YOUTH project will find out if it has won a top prize in the National Lottery Awards tomorrow.

Clitheroe Youth Forum is competing in the Best Heritage Project category in the annual search to find the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects.

The 21 finalists have already received Lottery cash, and a short film documenting their work will be screened live at 7.40pm on BBC1, before the winners of each of seven categories are announced.

Mel Diack, leader of the forum. who was awarded an MBE for his services in the local community, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have made it to the final of the National Lottery Awards and want to thank everyone who has supported us so far.”

The forum used funding to teach young people about their heritage by involving them in the creation of a remembrance book, a Braille book, a website, and a film to remember the 72 servicemen, and one woman, from the town who were killed in World War Two.

The winning project will receive a trophy and £2,000 to spend on the project.
