I’m A Celebrity 2011: Antony Cotton to face his phobias
ROSSENDALE actor Antony Cotton will be facing up to his phobias in the new series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
Antony, who plays Rovers Return barman Sean Tully in Coronation Street, is among the 10 celebrities who have flown out to Australia for this year's jungle adventure.
And the Edenfield-born actor revealed he has undergone hypnotherapy to help conquer his fears ahead of the tasks that lie ahead in the outback.
In the past, the I'm A Celebrity... stars have faced a range of grisly tasks which have included eating testicles and eyeballs, as well as having cockroaches, spiders and rats crawling over them.
Some also skydive into the jungle before trekking to the camp.
But Antony confessed: "I have a morbid fear of flying, I don't like heights and I am claustrophobic.
"I have had hypnotherapy and I have also been to therapy to face my fears."
This year's contestants will be dropped into the camp at the weekend ready for the start of the series on Sunday evening.
Others taking part are actresses Lorraine Chase, Crissy Rock, Stefanie Powers and Jessica Jane Clement; comedian Freddie Starr; The Only Way Is Essex star Mark Wright; Dougie Poynter from McFly; former Olympic athlete Fatima Whitbread; and former jockey Willie Carson.
On the I’m A Celebrity... website, Antony describes himself as a mixture of camp and irritable and can't bear people with no moral code.
He said: "I hope they cast a group of really nice people who look after one another.”
In his last Twitter message before flying off to the jungle challenge, Antony wrote: “The worst kept secret is finally out! I'm doing @imacelebrity.
"From now on my Twitter will be operated by a mystery elf, Mr E. Wish me luck!“
The ITV1 series starts at 9pm on Sunday.
