Lancashire Telegraph review by Gill Ellis from January 18, 2008.

The Bay Leaves has made an art of wining and dining its clients.

The whole experience of having a meal in this modest Indian Restaurant is a culinary and visual delight.

Presentation is clearly key and that goes for the interior design of the place right down to the table settings and the way the food is laid on the plates.

The restaurant is beautifully designed, slightly minimalist, thoroughly stylish and totally relaxing.

But the aesthetic pleasure is by no means superficial - the food really is excellent.

We went along on Sunday and opted for the Sunday banquet, very reasonable at £8.95 a head. For starters, we ordered spring rolls and chicken tikka. The spring rolls were light and fresh, the chicken tender and spicy, and the sauces quite delicious.

For mains, we ordered a chicken korma with chips and a chicken rogan josh with steamed rice.

The korma was mild and creamy, the rogan josh rich and spicy. They were so beautifully presented, they looked almost too good to eat. And they were delicious, the chicken was succulent, the rice fluffy, the spices perfectly mixed and the portions plentiful.

We were also served a vegetable dish, a spinach and potato dish as recommended by the waiter and a naan bread as part of the banquet.

The menu is fairly standard for an Indian restaurant, covering most of the dishes you'd expect to find and a few more unusual ones, plus the chef's specialities. They offer very few English dishes and the chips are of the French fries type. There is also a selection of desserts available.

The bar was well stocked with bottles but very little in the line of draft beers. The wine menu was varied, starting at around £10 for a bottle of house wine.

The banquet was quite filling, we certainly couldn't manage a dessert and finished off with two coffees including one flavoured with a hint of single malt and cream, mmm, a lovely finish to a lovely meal.
