Betty White was the guest of honour at this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards, where she was given a Lifetime Achievement gong for her work on the small screen.

The 93-year-old was honoured by host Tyra Banks and other daytime TV legends Regis Philbin, Marie Osmond, Charo, Tom Bergeron and Fred Willard to celebrate her career, which has included starring in The Golden Girls and Hot In Cleveland.

According to E!, she said: “I can’t tell you what this means. I had no idea that I would still be alive at this point for one thing, but I’d still be privileged enough to still be in this business.”

Former Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson, who has now handed over the talk show to James Corden, won outstanding game show host for his new role fronting Celebrity Name Game.

US soaps were big winners at the ceremony, with The Young And The Restless picking up four Emmys, The Bold And The Beautiful winning three, and Days Of Our Lives going home with two. General Hospital also had a strong showing, taking away three awards.

Sunday’s ceremony included a Days Of Our Lives reunion and an emotional tribute to late comic and Fashion Police host Joan Rivers.
