Madonna has taken inspiration from Katy Perry by posing naked on social media in order to encourage American citizens to vote in the forthcoming presidential election.

The singer, 58, shared a topless selfie on her Instagram and Twitter pages one day after Katy appeared in the nude in a viral video as she attempted to “change the world”.

While Katy attempted to boost the number of people registering to vote in the election – which will see Republican candidate Donald Trump go up against the Democratic Party’s Hillary Clinton – Madonna used her posts to back one person in particular.

Along with her photograph, she wrote: “Im voting naked with Katy Perry!! Vote for Hillary. She’s the Best we got! Nude Voting series # 1 (sic).”

This followed another social media post in which the Material Girl singer appeared on stage with Clinton.

She wrote: “Living For Hillary. Yes I vote for intelligence. I vote for equal rights for women and all minorities.

“Women Run the World now they have to get out and start supporting one another. No more misogynist feminists! No more mysogony. Get out and Vote (sic).”

Katy, who is also a prominent supporter of Clinton, kick-started the unofficial naked movement with her video, posted on comedy website Funny Or Die on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old music star explained that she wanted to use her body as “click bait” in order to get people to polls ahead of the election on November 8.
