Katie Waissel admitted she had no idea why Christopher Biggins was removed from the Celebrity Big Brother house, despite a “Nazi joke” he made to her being part of the reason.

Pantomime veteran Biggins was booted from the house after three warnings from Big Brother for his remarks on bisexuality and for a comment about gas chambers made to X Factor reject Katie, who is Jewish.

While in the house, Biggins had said: “You better be careful or they’ll be putting you in a shower and taking you to a room,” as housemates queued for the bathroom.

Speaking on This Morning the day after her eviction, Katie said she was still under the assumption he left because of a family issue.

“I don’t even know what’s happened to be really honest with you. But I was really concerned that something had happened with his family so we were all just really really shocked.

“Either that or he was just in it for a week to have a good time for a week,” she said, to which host Eamonn Holmes replied, “No”.

Ruth Langsford asked what the house had been told about his removal, to which Katie replied, “Nothing, they just said that he’d gone.”

“Oh, I’m sure that you’ll find out why,” Ruth said, while Eamonn suggested Katie give Biggins a call.

“Yeah, I’ve got my reading to do,” she said.

Viewers were surprised to find out that she did not know the truth.

Some even suggested that Biggins’ removal from the house might have been an overreaction from Channel 5 if Katie did not seem to still be offended by the comment.

Katie was evicted alongside Samantha Fox on Tuesday night, leaving six housemates now remaining to face the final: Marnie Simpson, Frankie Grande, Stephen Bear, Ricky Norwood, Aubrey O’Day and Renee Graziano.

Biggins has apologised for his comments and will visit Auschwitz later this year on a pre-planned trip.
