It would be a brave presenter that took on the job of replacing Dermot O’Leary on The X Factor – and Olly Murs has admitted he is starting to feel the nerves.

Singer Olly and his old Xtra Factor pal Caroline Flack were recently announced as the new hosts of the main talent show after Dermot announced his exit, but they are well aware that they have big shoes to fill.

Olly told Free Radio: “I can’t wait, it’s going to be amazing. I think nerves have definitely kicked in a little bit, I’m like wow, it’s gonna be quite an amazing thing to do.

“Obviously at the moment I’m focusing on the tour, but I’m really excited. It’s going to be really tough for me and Caroline, replacing someone like Dermot.”

He added that they would be taking inspiration from TV’s favourite presenting duo, Ant and Dec.

He said: “When we did the Xtra Factor, the show had never had a twosome do it before. It’s the first time The X Factor main show’s had that. So we’re looking to bring something fresh, something different. Of course Ant and Dec are the pinnacles of that, and do it so well.

“So we just want to be ourselves and have a lot of fun, and I think it’s going to be really great. I think X Factor and Simon Cowell wanted to revamp the show, and do some new changes, and obviously we’re delighted to be a part of it. I’m excited! I love TV and I love The X Factor.”

Former X Factor finalist Olly said he couldn’t wait to see who this year’s judges would be: “I’m interested, as everyone else is, to see who the judges are going to be, I don’t know who they’re going to be yet.

“It’d be great to go out with them before the show starts, get to know them. I just want us all to have a great chemistry and a great laugh.

“I really want people at home to watch the show and be excited, and feel like it’s really fun. I’m more excited than nervous really.”
