Music news: ‘Radio shun’ ruins Hollie Steel’s hope for hit
BRITAIN’S Got Talent singer Hollie Steel’s mum has hit out after all major radio stations refused to play her daughter’s Christmas single.
Nina Steel said she was heartbroken Hollie’s version of Where Are You, Christmas? had very little airtime and not made it into the top 40 chart for Christmas.
She said local radio stations 2BR and the Bee had supported Oakhill College pupil Hollie, who lives in Huncoat but grew up in Burnley, by playing her song.
But she said major stations told her Hollie was ‘not established enough’.
Nina Steel said: “It’s no surprise that it hasn’t charted this week because nobody’s heard it.
“She’s not had the air play because there’s too many big artists.
"Radio stations have had the playlists with upcoming songs, including Hollie’s, for months and months.
"But they say they have no space to play hers.
"I don’t know how she’ll ever get established if they don’t give her a chance."
Mrs Steel said Hollie was looking forward to a break for Christmas, adding: “She’s worked really, really hard and it feels like it was all for nothing. She has a beautiful song out there.
“Sometimes this country lets young people down and we want people to get behind Hollie and support her.
“it is heartbreaking for me and her but she’s a little girl and will bounce back.”

She has an ok voice, no better than a lot of other 10 year olds who have singing lessons.
some kids love singing, leave it at that, just let her enjoy it without this daft idea that she is going to be a star.
total nonsense all of it.

When will she realise that Hollie is never going to be a big star? She might be cute in a local panto but the days of the 'child star' making it big disappeared with Opportunity Knocks years ago.
Stop trying to live out your dreams through your daughter!
