WELL that's a cheery way to spend a Sunday night - contemplating the thought of London submerged under millions of gallons of water.
And no, those weeping Nancy contestants over on the Beeb can't be blamed.
Nor was it the first policy introduced by the new Mayor to clean up the streets.
Apparently Flood - which formed the mainstay of ITV1's output last night - was due to freak tides and man's continued abuse of the planet.
If you stick with this drama - there's another two hours of it tomorrow night - you will have given up four hours of your life watching this preposterous nonsense.
On paper Flood didn't look too bad a proposition for the Bank Holiday weekend. It had some good names in it - Robert Carlyle, David Suchet and even Tom Courtney, but the cast list was as good as it got.
Carlyle was an engineer brought in to check problems with the Thames Barrier which just happened to be run by his ex-wife - coincidence that eh? Clearly the pressure of dealing with the ex affected his accent which wandered about alarmingly.
Have you noticed that when faced by some form of apocalypse everyone on planet earth starts speaking in cliches?
Sure the special effects were quite good but leave disaster movies to Hollywood and leave Sunday nights to Kingdom!
