Being honoured with the tag 'Gears of Warhammer' in the run-up to release should be seen as an extreme compliment for Space Marine.

While many titles have taken characters of this ilk into outer space to battle all manner of alien irritants, it’s at Games Workshop where the original Space Marines were spawned, in the brutal, science fiction setting of their Warhammer 40,000 universe.

This intense action-RPG features the kind of epic battles that you would expect in the Gears series, but developer Relic is acutely aware of how to build atmospheric environments, engrossing audio and a beefy lead character, Titus 4/5
