Dane DeHaan has revealed he cannot wait to find out what the future holds for his Spider-Man character.

The Kill Your Darlings star plays Harry Osborn, who turns into Spider-Man's nemesis Green Goblin in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

" I'm so excited. I can't wait. I don't know what they're going to be but I think we can tell something bigger is coming and I can't wait to find out what that is," he teased.

Dane spent hours in the make-up chair to transform into the comic-book villain.

"It's three-and-a-half hours in the make-up chair, and then another to get ratcheted and wrenched into the suit. It's worth it! It's not so bad," he said.

The 28-year-old also helped create the Green Goblin's look with make-up designer Sarah Rubano, and even flew to New Zealand to meet the team on 'goblin duty'.

"It was crazy. We worked really hard to develop what the Goblin was going to look like," he explained.

"We had a marathon where we started to think what he was going to look like and to pay homage to what the Goblin has always looked like, but also bring him into the modern-day world and give him these realistic organic elements that would make it more believable in today's world."

Dane continued: "We developed together a whole evolution of the make-up. It starts from a pimple on my neck and starts to spread to his face... I wore a few prosthetics - ears and a nose tip - but it was mostly individual sores and wounds that we fairly specifically chose.

"I also wore teeth and contacts - he has the Goblin's menacing smile and those big eyes. The shape of my hair pays homage to the purple hood that the Green Goblin wears in the comics."
