1:04pm Wednesday 14th September 2011

THE housing market in the North West received a welcome boost after the Agency Express Property Activity Index revealed that, in August, both the number of properties ‘Sold’ and new ‘For Sale’ listings performed better than the national average.

There was a 5.7 per cent increase in the number of properties sold in the region in August against the previous month, in contrast to the country as a whole, which rose by 3.9 per cent.

When it came to new for sale listings, the north west saw a 0.4 per cent fall against July, compared to the UK as a whole which was down 1.3 per cent. T Stephen Watson, managing director, said: “Our index is evidence of the laws of demand and supply in that properties in good condition that are realistically priced, will sell.”
