Lancashire slump to shock defeat by Scotland
Kyle Hogg's fantastic all-round effort wasn't enough to stop Lancashire slumping to a shock Friends Provident Trophy win against the Scottish Saltires.
The 24-year-old made an unbeaten 66 and took two wickets as the Lightning lost by two runs.
His knock, and a 71-run partnership with Luke Sutton, helped resurrect Lancashire's reply to Scotland's 155 after they had slumped to 44 for 7.
Lightning skipper Stuart Law won the toss and put the visitors in, and the decision seemed to pay dividends.
Hogg made a couple of early breakthroughs before Ed Cowan and Colin Smith put on 67 for the third wicket.
But then Steven Croft swung the game Lancashire's way as he ripped the heart out of the Saltires batting order with four for 24.
Andrew Flintoff also took a couple of wickets as Scotland crawled to 155 for 9.
The Lightning reply got off to a disastrous start as Dewald Nel, John Blain and Craig Wright blew away Lancashire's top order.
But Hogg and Sutton put the home side right back into the game before Sutton and Simon Marshall fell in quick succession.
And the Saltires held on to record a famous win.
