It was with great sadness to learn of Jack Wilson's sudden death.
Jack was known by many people and everyone I have spoken to shares the same sense of shock over his death.
Jack came to Chorley in the 1960's and immediately got involved with the local Labour Party.
He then became a councillor and served with distinction over many years.
He was leader of Chorley Borough Council from 1990 to 2006 and he has a proud record of serving the local community.
His service to the Labour Party was second to none and there was many time when I would seek out his advice and wisdom, both when I served on Chorley Borough Council and since becoming Member of Parliament in 1997.
Jack had a wonderful sense of humour, a razor sharp mind and was well respected by people throughout the community.
Our thoughts go out to Mary and the family during this difficult time in coming to terms with the shock.
I am sure that they will reflect on the life of a wonderful family man.
Jack was a great friend and he will be sorely missed.
