Hi Laura, nice to hear from you and that your dad mentioned me. I always mentioned him when talking about my adventures over there.
One of our friends was of course related to George Best and I was the guest at his house on one of my last travels over.
I am certain he got his wish and I will light a candle here in my home on the 6th of December in his honour and remember all the wonderful times and memories.
Take care and all the best wishes to you and your family, hugs and kisses from Sweden!

Hi Urban,
We have only just seen this, it Laura, Ian's daughter. Thank you for your kind words. He would be very happy to know that the flag is still in pride of place in your home. He talked if you often when remembering his own adventures following Man Utd. He said in his last days that he was going to have a pint with George Best! We send best wishes to you and your family in Sweden XXX

I want to add a picture of the big banner that Ian gave me in 2001 when he and his friends got a new one. It has always been up on the wall in my various homes over the years and is now surrounded by all the framed United shirts signed by United players over the years.
This gift from Ian shows what a kind man he was and to this day and as long as I shall live it will be greatest gift ever given to me and really made me feel like one of the lads.
Forever grateful to have known him!

I am absolutely devastated to have learned of Ian's passing as I was always hoping to see him once again and thank him for all the things he did for me. During my years of travel to follow Man United he became a very good friend to me and even allowed me to stay in his house and get to know his family and many friends.
I am forever grateful to have met such a nice man and will never forget his lovely smile and generous nature. Man United lifting that trophy in my home country of Sweden will forever be a tribute to Ian.
Rest in peace my friend!
