A charity has thanked emergency services after a contractor was injured and airlifted to hospital.

Child Action North West which is headquartered in Wilpshire said the incident happened on Thursday.

In a post the charity said: “There has been an incident this morning (Thursday) where a contractor has been injured on site.

"Emergency and rescue services have attended, and the individual has been airlifted to hospital. 

“He is conscious, talking and in very good hands. HSE has been informed and we thank you all for the concern you’ve shown.

“Our heartfelt thanks and admiration to the services in attendance: Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, North West Air Ambulance, North West Ambulance Service and Lancashire Police. Your work was outstanding. You are real-life heroes.”

North West Ambulance said the person was reportedly injured on the roof of a building. 

A spokesperson said: “We dispatched our Hazardous Area Response Team to help bring the patient down. 

"An ambulance, a response vehicle, an air ambulance and a bronze commander also attended the scene. The patient was taken to hospital by road with non-life-threatening head and neck injuries.”

The Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said one pump and one aerial ladder platform from Blackburn and Hyndburn attended to assist the ambulance service with the incident. 

A spokesperson said: “The ALP was used to transfer the casualty down from the roof, where they were left in the care of North West Ambulance Service.”

A Health and Safety Executive spokesperson said it was aware of the incident and making enquiries.
